The military pay scale in the US depends on the designation, cost of living, location etc. The ‘Defense Appropriations Act’ and the ‘Defense Authorization Act’ determine the military pay and benefits upon which the military pay scale rests. The major provisions made by the Congress for the military members (in the form of a bill in some cases) are – Basic Pay, Housing Allowance, Combat pay, Family Separation Allowance, Concurrent Receipt, Foreign Language Bonus, Death Gratuity, Education Benefits, Medical Care.
In order to enforce good order and discipline among the military members a separate system of Justice is created for the U.S Armed forces.

There are several military benefits available to the members from medical care, tax advantages, special pays, retirement benefits etc. There are college scholarships and educational benefits as well. The pay scale of military personnel and the education benefits are reasons why some people want to be a part of the military.
